I have been aware through the years that many I have worked with feel like their life is missing a major need they have since they have been burning the candle at both ends. Feeling fatigued, lack of passion, and stressed since all their energy has gone to fulfilling their daily career requirements and family tasks in life and little left for having fun and connecting with God. Creating a life that is joyful is something they can’t fathom.

What many times is driving this success image is a life of striving to win value from others that has kept them on a perpetual cycle like a hamster in a cage. Wanting success and admiration from others and not knowing how to give that love to oneself.

Are you one of those? Do you find yourself lost in the myriad of emotions of depression, anxiety and shame not know where you are able to get your next energy boost from. If life has taken over and you miss out on the joy that God has for you, you’re not alone. Many of us struggle with the busyness of life. We may be finding our life void of pleasure.

I heard a women speaking at my church this week say that summer is a good time to hold the space to deal with unresolved issues with yourself. I encourage you to take the time to examine what you are holding onto and need God’s cleansing.

I challenge you to take this time to do a little self-examination of what’s holding you back from joy. Is it a relationship that keeps gnawing at you and creating stress? It could be a coworker, a partner, or a child that you feel stuck in some unforgiveness. Or have you neglected your relationship with God so you feel drained of any vital energy. It’s time to slow down and find a life of more joy.
